Nowadays, pollution is one of the biggest treats for ecosystems and human health and so the most pressing environmental challenge. In this framework, “Ecotoxicology” is the key discipline that helps understanding how pollutants affect ecosystems but is also a key discipline helping to prevent harmful chemical to be released in the environment.
This is possible as ecotoxicology is at the crossroads of ecology, toxicology, and environmental sciences by combining several disciplines like biology, chemistry, and environmental sciences, bridging scientific research with regulatory applications.
This course will offer basic ecotoxicological knowledge for attendees who are interested by the topic or will be involved in the field of hazards posed by environmental contaminants in future studies.
The course will consist of lectures and practical sessions. The lectures will be held in the mornings while experimental work will take place in the afternoons. The experimental session will provide an example what is an acute ecotoxicological test using a model organism, Daphnia magna, while the lectures will provide a broad overview of different aspects of ecotoxicology, including environmental chemistry, toxicology, risk assessment related topics and about the next steps in ecotoxicology.
The present Ecotoxicology Training Course 2025 will take place from 10 to 13 June 2025.
