14 October, 18 November and 9 December 2020: BelTox Scientific Meeting Series on “Chemical Carcinogenicity” with the support of ECETOC and UMICORE
In the wake of the Corona pandemic, the Steering Committee of BelTox has decided to organise this year a webinar instead of a live annual meeting in an auditorium as normally done every year.
The topic of the webinar is chemical carcinogenesis, and the webinar consists of three sessions on (i) regulatory aspects, (ii) the lung and (iii) the liver as targets. These free webinars are planned on:
- 14 October 2020: Regulatory aspects of chemical carcinogenesis.
- 18 November 2020: The lung as a target for chemical carcinogenesis
- 9 December 2020: The liver as a target for chemical carcinogenesis
Participants can register free of charge for all three sessions through Eventbrite. Afterwards, every member of BelTox will be given access to the recording of the presentations on the members-only page of the BelTox website. Not a member yet? You can easily become one here.
There will be no young scientist competition this year.

25-29 October 2020: Module 4 of the UCLouvain-BelTox toxicology course in collaboration with ESTIV, Methods applied in “in vitro” toxicology for the safety testing of chemicals.
In vitro toxicity methods are gaining importance, in particular as a response to a number of European legislative changes that call for more mechanistically-based decision-making and limit or even prohibit the use of animal experimentation for risk assessment purposes. Hence, there is an urgent demand for toxicologists and risk assessors to incorporate data from in vitro test methods into regulatory safety evaluation of chemicals.
This course aims at meeting this important need by training individuals who wish to start or pursue a career in this direction or to gain an update on the state-of-the-art of applied in vitro toxicology. This course is to be considered as the in vitro module of the toxicology training program of UCLouvain-BelTox, which will count for the curriculum for the University Certificate in Toxicology of the UCLouvain. This course is recognized by EUROTOX as eligible for European Registered Toxicologist (ERT) accreditation (topic B19).
This course is recognized by EUROTOX as eligible for European Registered Toxicologist (ERT) accreditation (topic B19).

26-29 September 2021: EuroTox 2020 Copenhagen
The Danish Society for Toxicology and Pharmacology is honoured to organize EUROTOX 2020 in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. The congress will take place from September 26th to 29th, 2021. The venue is The Tivoli Congress Center, located in the City Center of Copenhagen.
The congress theme “Combined efforts in quest of safer chemicals and medicines” reflects the congress programme including a variety of topics dealing with safety of drugs and environmental chemicals, new and emerging technologies, personalized medicine, human health effects caused by exposure to chemicals as well as safety issues arising from climate changes.
The Danish Society for Toxicology and Pharmacology has experience in organizing international scientific congresses, including the world XVI IUPHAR World Congress in Pharmacology in Copenhagen, 2010. On behalf of the Danish Society for Toxicology and Pharmacology, it is a great pleasure to welcome all participants to Copenhagen for EUROTOX2020.
